Web Design Tools
There are hundreds of tools available for web design. Some of them are inferior and redundant, so this article will talk about some of the main tools we use for design.
Graphic Design
For Raster images we use primarily photoshop CS, but have used GIMp, in the past paint shop pro For Vector Images we use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, but have used Corel Draw in the past
Website Layout Design
For web design layouts we use Photoshop, Illustrator and or Fireworks to slice up our designs to make them 100% compatible HTML or CMS.
Template Design
Dreamweaver is our top choice for template designs, but depending on the template, we often just hand code it in Notepad++
Content Writing
If we’re dealing in a static page we use MS Office or just write the content straight into dreamweaver. If we’re using a CMS, we often just write it straight in the CMS, depending on the spell and grammar checking features it has.
Data management
For databases offline we use MS Access and for online we use MySQL. For spreadsheets we use MS Excel because it is unsurpassed, but if they need to be online in the cloud, we use google docs, since most people have a google account and can be quickly added to share and edit the DB.
Out of the box content management systems
We use whichever CMS our client requires, but we mostly use Wordpress, Joomla, Radiant CMS. And for online shops we use Spree or Magento (but again, any platform our clients demand). We have also coded our own CMS for use with many clients.
Web Programming
When it comes to web programming our clients use Dreamweaver, Notepad++ or sometimes the built in editor that many CMS programs contain.
